Vaiśampāyana uvāca | śṛṇu mātṛgaṇān rājan kumārānucarān imān | kīrtyamānān mayā vīra sapatnagaṇasūdanān ||
Vaiśampāyana berkata: “Wahai raja, dengarlah ketika aku menyebut kumpulan Para Ibu (Mātṛkā) ini, para pengiring Kumāra (Skanda/Kārttikeya). Wahai wira, ketika aku menamakan mereka, ketahuilah bahawa mereka ialah pemusnah bala tentera musuh—kuasa yang diseru dalam bayangan moral peperangan, untuk menundukkan keangkuhan dan melindungi tertib yang benar.”
