अध्याय ४ — दुर्योधनस्य असंधि-निश्चयः
Duryodhana’s Refusal of Reconciliation
“भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण किसीसे पराजित न होनेवाले राजा युधिष्ठिर, अर्जुन और भीमसेनसे जो कुछ भी कहेंगे, वे सब लोग उसे नि:संदेह स्वीकार कर लेंगे ।। नातिक्रमिष्यते कृष्णो वचनं कौरवस्य तु । धृतराष्ट्रस्य मन्ये5हं नापि कृष्णस्य पाण्डव:,“कुरुराज धृतराष्ट्रकी बात श्रीकृष्ण नहीं टालेंगे और श्रीकृष्णकी आज्ञाका उल्लंघन युधिष्ठिर नहीं कर सकेंगे, ऐसा मेरा विश्वास है
sañjaya uvāca | bhagavān śrīkṛṣṇaḥ kasyacid aparājitaṃ rājānaṃ yudhiṣṭhiram arjunaṃ bhīmasenaṃ ca yat kiṃcid vakṣyati, te sarve tad niḥsaṃdehaṃ pratigrahiṣyanti || nātikramiṣyate kṛṣṇo vacanaṃ kauravasya tu | dhṛtarāṣṭrasya manye'haṃ nāpi kṛṣṇasya pāṇḍavaḥ ||
Sañjaya berkata: “Apa sahaja yang Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa katakan kepada Raja Yudhiṣṭhira—yang tidak terkalahkan dalam keteguhan—serta kepada Arjuna dan Bhīmasena, semuanya akan menerimanya tanpa ragu. Aku percaya Kṛṣṇa tidak akan mengetepikan kata-kata Dhṛtarāṣṭra, tuan bagi kaum Kuru; dan demikian juga Pāṇḍava (Yudhiṣṭhira) tidak akan mampu melanggar perintah Kṛṣṇa.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic restraint and the binding force of rightful authority: Krishna, though supremely capable, honors Dhritarashtra’s word, while Yudhishthira, committed to dharma, will not violate Krishna’s directive. Ethical action is shown as adherence to legitimate counsel and responsibility, not mere power.
Sanjaya reports his confidence about how Krishna’s counsel will be received: the Pandava leaders will accept Krishna’s words without hesitation. He also anticipates reciprocal restraint—Krishna will not disregard Dhritarashtra’s position/word, and Yudhishthira will not overstep Krishna’s command—framing the coming decisions within duty and protocol.
