Trita in the Well (Udapāna-kathā) — Balarāma’s Tīrtha Observances
ततो मन्युपरीतात्मा जगाम यदुनन्दन: । तीर्थयात्रां हलधर: सरस्वत्यां महायशा:,इससे मन-ही-मन कुपित और खिन्न होकर महायशस्वी यदुनन्दन हलधर सरस्वतीके तटपर तीर्थयात्राके लिये चल दिये
tato manyuparītātmā jagāma yadunandanaḥ | tīrthayātrāṃ haladharaḥ sarasvatyāṃ mahāyaśāḥ ||
Lalu, dengan jiwa diliputi amarah dan dukacita batin, keturunan Yadu yang termasyhur—Haladhara (Balarāma)—berangkat menunaikan ziarah suci di sepanjang Sungai Sarasvatī.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
When anger and inner agitation arise, a dharmic response can be to step back from confrontation and seek purification and clarity through sacred discipline (here, pilgrimage), rather than letting passion drive harmful action.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Balarāma, upset and inwardly angered, departs to undertake a pilgrimage along the Sarasvatī, removing himself from the immediate tensions of the war setting.
