Book 9 (Śalya-parva), Adhyāya 13 — Arjuna’s Arrow-storm and the Drauṇi Confrontation
विव्याध तरसा राजंस्तदद्भुतमिवाभवत् । राजन! उन्होंने उन सभी महाधनुर्धरोंको पाँच-पाँच बाणोंसे वेगपूर्वक घायल कर दिया। वह उनके द्वारा अद्भुत-सा कार्य हुआ ।। १४ * ततो<5परेण भल्ल्लेन धर्मपुत्रस्य मारिष
vivyādha tarasā rājan tad adbhutam ivābhavat |
Sañjaya berkata: “Wahai raja, dengan daya yang pantas ia menikam mereka; seakan-akan suatu keajaiban. Di tengah pertempuran, ia mencederakan semua pemanah agung itu, lima anak panah bagi setiap seorang, dengan kelajuan yang meluru—suatu perbuatan yang tampak luar biasa.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the astonishing efficacy of disciplined martial skill in war, while also implicitly reminding the listener (the king) that battlefield brilliance can appear ‘wondrous’ yet remains bound to the tragic momentum of conflict.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that a warrior, acting with great speed, wounded the opposing great archers—five arrows to each—so effectively that the feat seemed extraordinary.
