संजय उवाच अवाप्य वसुसम्पूर्णा वसुधां वसुधाधिप । प्रत्राज्य पाण्डवान् राज्याद राजन् किमनुशोचसि
sañjaya uvāca | avāpya vasusampūrṇāṃ vasudhāṃ vasudhādhipa | pradrājya pāṇḍavān rājyād rājan kim anuśocasi ||
Sañjaya berkata: Wahai tuan empunya bumi! Setelah memperoleh kerajaan dan tanah yang sarat kekayaan, serta menghalau para Pāṇḍava dari negeri mereka—wahai raja, mengapa tuanku masih berdukacita? Pertanyaan itu menyibak ketidakselarasan antara keuntungan yang zalim dan gelisah batin: kemakmuran yang lahir daripada adharma tidak menghadiahkan ketenteraman jiwa.
