उनकी यह दशा देखकर कृष्णा क्रोध और दु:खमें डूब गयी। वह तिरस्कारके योग्य कदापि न थी, तो भी कौरवोंकी सभामें दुर्योधन और कर्णने उसे कटु वचन सुनाये ।।
tāṃ tathāvasthāṃ dṛṣṭvā kṛṣṇā krodha-duḥkhābhyāṃ nimagnābhavat | sā kadācit tiraskāra-yogyā naivāsīt, tathāpi kaurava-sabhāyāṃ duryodhana-karṇābhyāṃ kaṭu-vacanāni śrāvitā | iti sarvam idaṃ rājan ākulaṃ pratibhāti me | rājan, etāḥ sarvāḥ kathā mahad-duḥkha-nimantreṇīva me pratibhānti |
Melihat keadaannya demikian, Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī) tenggelam dalam amarah dan dukacita. Dia tidak pernah layak dihina; namun di balairung Kaurava, Duryodhana dan Karṇa melemparkan kata-kata pedih kepadanya. “Wahai Raja,” kata Sañjaya, “segala hal ini tampak padaku serba kusut dan membawa alamat buruk—seakan mengundang dukacita yang besar.”
संजय उवाच
The passage highlights how adharma in speech—publicly humiliating one who is not deserving of contempt—creates moral disorder and sets in motion consequences that culminate in collective suffering. Sañjaya’s foreboding underscores that ethical collapse in a royal court is not private wrongdoing but a catalyst for widespread calamity.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Draupadī, seeing her humiliation, is overwhelmed by anger and grief. Despite her dignity, Duryodhana and Karṇa insult her with harsh words in the Kaurava assembly. Sañjaya concludes that these events feel ominous and likely to invite great sorrow.
