ऑपन--माज बछ। जि एकोनाशीतितमो< ध्याय: द्रौोपदीका कुन्तीसे विदा लेना तथा कुन्तीका विलाप एवं नगरके नर-नारियोंका शोकातुर होना वैशमग्पायन उवाच तस्मिन् सम्प्रस्थिते कृष्णा पृथां प्राप्प यशस्विनीम् । अपृच्छद् भृशदु:खार्ता याश्षान्यास्तत्र योषित:
Vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca: tasmin samprasthite kṛṣṇā pṛthāṃ prāpya yaśasvinīm | apṛcchad bhṛśa-duḥkhārtā yāś cānyās tatra yoṣitaḥ ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana berkata: Setelah dia berangkat, Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī), ditimpa dukacita yang amat berat, mendekati Pṛthā (Kuntī) yang termasyhur. Dia menyoalnya, dan para wanita lain yang berada di situ juga turut bertanya—semuanya dilanda pilu—mencari kata dan makna di tengah bencana itu.
वैशमग्पायन उवाच
