Renewed Summons to the Dice-Game and Exile Wager
एह्रोहि पाञज्चालि जितासि कृष्णे दुर्योधनं पश्य विमुक्तलज्जा | कुरून् भजस्वायतपतन्रनेत्रे धर्मेण लब्धासि सभां परैहि
ehi rohi pāñcāli jitāsi kṛṣṇe duryodhanaṁ paśya vimuktalajjā | kurūn bhajasvāyatapatranetre dharmeṇa labdhāsi sabhāṁ paraihi ||
Duryodhana berkata: “Mari ke sini, wahai Pāñcālī—mari. Wahai Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī), engkau telah dimenangi dalam permainan dadu. Buanglah rasa malu dan pandanglah Duryodhana. Wahai yang bermata lebar laksana kelopak teratai, kami telah memperoleh engkau menurut (apa yang kami dakwa sebagai) dharma; maka berkhidmatlah kepada kaum Kuru. Masuklah ke balairung diraja.”
दुर्योधन उवाच
The verse illustrates how adharma can be rhetorically disguised as dharma: Duryodhana claims a ‘lawful’ right gained through gambling, using that claim to justify coercion and public humiliation. The ethical warning is against legalistic manipulation that violates dignity and justice.
In the Kuru assembly after the dice game, Duryodhana orders Draupadī to come forward, declaring she has been ‘won’ and must serve the Kurus. It is part of the escalating outrage in the sabhā where the Pandavas are dispossessed and Draupadī is subjected to attempted dishonor.
