Escalation of Wagers and Shakuni’s Repeated Declarations of Victory

इदं तु त्वां कुरुगाजो 5 भ्युवाच पूर्व पृष्टवा कुशलं चाव्ययं च । इयं सभा त्वत्सभातुल्यरूपा भ्रातृणां ते दृश्यतामेत्य पुत्र,कुरुराज धृतराष्ट्रने पहले तुमसे कुशल और आरोग्य पूछकर यह संदेश दिया है कि वत्स! मैंने तुम्हारी सभाके समान ही एक सभा तैयार करायी है। तुम अपने भाइयोंके साथ आकर अपने दुर्योधन आदि भाइयोंकी इस सभाको देखो। इसमें सभी इष्ट-मित्र मिलकर द्यूतक्रीड़ा करें और मन बहलावें। हम सभी कौरव तुम सबसे मिलकर बहुत प्रसन्न होंगे

idaṃ tu tvāṃ kururājo 'bhyuvāca pūrvaṃ pṛṣṭvā kuśalaṃ cāvyayaṃ ca | iyaṃ sabhā tvat-sabhā-tulya-rūpā bhrātṝṇāṃ te dṛśyatām etya putra ||

Vidura berkata: “Namun terlebih dahulu raja Kuru telah menyampaikan kepadamu, setelah bertanya tentang kesejahteraan dan kesihatanmu yang tidak berkurang: ‘Wahai anakku, sebuah balairung telah disediakan di sini, setanding kemegahannya dengan balairungmu. Datanglah bersama saudara-saudaramu dan lihatlah ia.’”
