Dyūta-kathā-praśnaḥ — Inquiry into the Dice-Game Calamity
तस्य नान्यो<स्ति वक्ता वै त्वामृते द्विजपुड़व । युधिष्ठिर बोले--नरश्रेष्ठ! मेरे मनमें एक भारी संशय उत्पन्न हो गया है। विप्रवर! आपके सिवा दूसरा कोई ऐसा नहीं है, जो उसका समाधान कर सके
tasya nānyo 'sti vaktā vai tvāmṛte dvijapuṅgava |
Yudhiṣṭhira berkata: “Wahai yang terbaik antara para Brāhmaṇa, suatu keraguan besar telah timbul dalam hatiku. Wahai brahmana mulia, selain engkau, sesungguhnya tiada seorang pun yang mampu berkata-kata untuk meleraikannya.”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse highlights an ethical posture central to dharma: when faced with serious moral or practical uncertainty, one should acknowledge doubt honestly and seek clarification from a qualified, trustworthy authority rather than acting rashly.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses a revered Brāhmaṇa, stating that a weighty doubt has arisen and that only this learned person is capable of explaining and resolving it, setting up a forthcoming instruction or counsel.
