Maya’s Construction of the Assembly Hall
The verse highlights a king’s public standing (yaśas) as something shaped by deliberate action—here, the creation of a sabhā. It suggests that political legitimacy and moral authority are reinforced through visible institutions that support orderly counsel, governance, and communal life.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that someone intends to go to a certain house to fetch a person (if he is still there) and then arrange for the building of a renowned assembly-hall meant to increase the Pāṇḍava king’s fame—setting up the context for the celebrated sabhā associated with Yudhiṣṭhira’s court.
