त॑ जित्वा हाटकं नाम देशं गुह्मुकरक्षितम् । पाकशासनिरव्यग्र: सहसैन्य: समासदत्,किन्नरदेशको जीतकर शान्तचित्त इन्द्रकुमारने सेनाके साथ गुह्लुकोंद्वारा सुरक्षित हाटकदेशपर हमला किया
taṁ jitvā hāṭakaṁ nāma deśaṁ guhmukarakṣitam | pākaśāsanir avyagraḥ sahasainyaḥ samāsadat ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana berkata: Setelah menaklukkan wilayah bernama Hāṭaka yang dijaga oleh kaum Guhmuka, putera Indra—tenang dan tidak gelisah—maju ke sana bersama tenteranya.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined power: even in conquest, the ideal warrior acts with steadiness (avyagra), suggesting that ethical strength includes self-control and clarity rather than agitation or cruelty.
After securing victory, the Indra-like hero (Indra’s son in the narrative frame) advances with his army against the territory named Hāṭaka, which is defended by the Guhmukas.
