Educational Q&A

A righteous ruler practices dāna not as a minimal duty but as an expansive virtue: giving with prīti (gladness) and exceeding what is asked reflects inner integrity, compassion, and commitment to dharma.

Nārada describes a king at a sacrificial occasion distributing wealth to petitioners; whatever amount they requested, he granted five times that amount, highlighting exemplary royal generosity.
