आहत्य च यशो दीप्त॑ सुयुद्धेनात्मनो भुवि । विसृज्य शरवर्षाणि प्रताप्य च दिशो दश
āhatya ca yaśo dīptaṁ suyuddhenātmano bhuvi | visṛjya śaravarṣāṇi pratāpya ca diśo daśa
Śalya berkata: “Setelah meraih bagi dirinya kemasyhuran yang menyala di bumi ini melalui pertempuran yang mulia, dan setelah mencurahkan hujan anak panah, dia membuat keperkasaannya terasa di seluruh sepuluh penjuru.”
शल्य उवाच
The verse highlights the kṣatriya ideal of earning renown through courageous and disciplined combat: fame is portrayed as the ethical fruit of valor when one stands firm in battle and displays prowess without shrinking from duty.
Śalya describes a warrior’s battlefield dominance: by fighting well, releasing continuous volleys of arrows, and projecting power in every quarter, the fighter becomes a fearsome presence across the field.
