प्रेताश्नैव पिशाचाश्न क्रव्यादाश्च॒ मृगाण्डजा:

pretāśnaiva piśācāśna kravyādāś ca mṛgāṇḍajāḥ

Sañjaya melaporkan bahawa medan perang itu menjadi begitu mengerikan sehingga makhluk yang memakan mayat—hantu ghoul, pemakan daging, dan makhluk yang lahir daripada telur binatang liar—turut tertarik datang untuk menjamah yang gugur.
