संशय: सर्वभूतानां विजये समपद्यत | समेतौ पुरुषव्याघ्रौ प्रेक्ष्य कर्णघधनंजयौ,पुरुषसिंह कर्ण और धनंजयको एकत्र हुआ देखकर समस्त प्राणियोंको किसी एककी विजयमें संदेह होने लगा
saṁśayaḥ sarvabhūtānāṁ vijaye samapadyata | sametau puruṣavyāghrau prekṣya karṇa-dhanañjayau ||
Sañjaya berkata: Apabila semua makhluk melihat Karṇa dan Dhanañjaya—wira laksana harimau—bertemu berhadapan, timbullah keraguan di setiap hati tentang siapa yang akan menang.
संजय उवाच
