दुःशासनस्य रुधिरे पीयमाने महात्मना | व्यापन्नचेतसश्रैव शोकोपहतचेतस:,“महामना भीमसेन जब दुःशासनका रक्त पी रहे थे, तभीसे ये कृपाचार्य आदि वीर तथा मरनेसे बचे हुए सब भाई कौरव विपन्न और शोकाकुलचित्त होकर दुर्योधनको सब ओरसे घेरकर उसके पास खड़े हैं ।। पाण्डवा लब्धलक्ष्याश्वन॒ धनंजयपुरोगमा: । त्वामेवाभिमुखा: शूरा युद्धाय समुपस्थिता: “अर्जुन आदि पाण्डववीर अपना लक्ष्य सिद्ध कर चुके हैं और अब युद्धके लिये तुम्हारे ही सामने उपस्थित हो रहे हैं

sañjaya uvāca |

duḥśāsanasya rudhire pīyamāne mahātmanā |

vyāpannacetasaś caiva śokopahatacetasaḥ ||

pāṇḍavā labdhalakṣyāś ca dhanañjayapurogamāḥ |

tvām evābhimukhāḥ śūrā yuddhāya samupasthitāḥ ||

Sañjaya berkata: “Sejak Bhimasena yang berhati luhur itu meminum darah Duhshasana, para pahlawan seperti Kripacharya serta semua saudara Kaurava yang terselamat—dengan fikiran goncang dan hati ditimpa dukacita—menghimpit Duryodhana dari segenap arah dan berdiri rapat di sisinya. Sementara itu para wira Pandava, dipimpin Dhananjaya (Arjuna), setelah mencapai tujuan mereka, kini berdiri tepat menghadapmu, siap untuk bertempur.”
