Shloka 15

तत्रान्तरे सुमहत्‌ सूतपुत्र- श्रक्रे युद्धे सोमकान्‌ सम्प्रमृदूनन्‌ रथाश्वमातड्रगणान्‌ जघान प्रच्छादयामास शरैर्दिशश्ष,इसी बीचमें सूतपुत्र कर्णने सोमकोंका संहार करते हुए उनके साथ महान्‌ युद्ध किया। उनके बहुत-से घोड़े, रथ और हाथियोंका वध कर डाला और बाणोंद्वारा सम्पूर्ण दिशाओंको आच्छादित कर दिया

tatrāntare sumahat sūtaputraḥ śakre yuddhe somakān sampramṛdūnan rathāśvamātaṅgagaṇān jaghāna pracchādayāmāsa śaraiḥ diśaḥ

Sañjaya berkata: Sementara itu, Karṇa—anak kepada sais kereta—bertempur dengan dahsyat, menghancurkan kaum Somaka. Dia membunuh banyak kereta perang, kuda dan pasukan gajah mereka, dan dengan anak panahnya seolah-olah menudungi seluruh penjuru. Adegan ini menonjolkan etika getir perang kṣatriya: keperkasaan dan kekuatan tanpa henti dipamerkan, walaupun harga nyawa dan tertib semakin menimbun.
