The verse highlights the tension between sanctioned martial action and the inner peril of anger: in war a kṣatriya may strike decisively, yet wrath (saṃkrodha) accelerates destruction and carries moral weight, reminding readers to distinguish duty-driven force from rage-driven violence.
Sañjaya describes Bhīma taking up a huge mace, charging into the elephant contingent, and killing his opponent swiftly—‘sending him to Yama’s abode’—emphasizing Bhīma’s overwhelming power amid the Kurukṣetra battle.
