उनमेंसे चार सौ वीर महारथी यत्नपूर्वक लड़ते रहे, जिन्हें अर्जुनने अपने पैने बाणोंसे यमलोक पहुँचा दिया ।। ते वध्यमाना: समरे नानालिऊज्लैः शितै: शरै: । अर्जुनं समभित्यज्य दुद्गुव॒ुर्वे दिशो दश,संग्राममें नाना प्रकारके चिह्नोंसे युक्त तीखे बाणोंकी मार खाकर वे सैनिक अर्जुनको छोड़कर दसों दिशाओंमें भाग गये

te vadhyamānāḥ samare nānāliṅgaiḥ śitaiḥ śaraiḥ | arjunaṃ samabhityajya dudruvuḥ diśo daśa ||

Sañjaya berkata: Dihentam di tengah pertempuran oleh anak panah Arjuna yang setajam mata pisau, bertanda pelbagai lambang, para pahlawan itu—tidak mampu menahan serangan—meninggalkan hadapan Arjuna lalu melarikan diri ke sepuluh penjuru. Adegan ini menegaskan beban moral perang: keberanian runtuh apabila berhadapan kemahiran yang mengatasi dan takdir, dan medan tempur menjadi ujian bukan sahaja senjata, tetapi juga tekad dan kewajipan.
