अहं व: पाण्डुपुत्रेभ्यस्त्रास्यामीति यदब्रवीत् | धृतराष्ट्रसुतान् कर्ण: श्लाघमानो55त्मनो गुणान्,“अपने गुणोंकी प्रशंसा करते हुए सूतपुत्र कर्णने धृतराष्ट्रके पुत्रोंस जो यह कहा था कि 'मैं पाण्डवोंसे तुम्हारी रक्षा करूँगा" उसके इस कथनको मेरे तीखे बाण असत्य कर देंगे और पाण्डवोंका युद्धविषयक उद्योग समाप्त हो जायगा
ahaṁ vaḥ pāṇḍuputrebhyas trāsyāmīti yad abravīt | dhṛtarāṣṭrasutān karṇaḥ ślāghamāno ’tmano guṇān ||
Sañjaya berkata: “Tatkala Karṇa, sambil memuji keperkasaannya sendiri, berkata kepada putera-putera Dhṛtarāṣṭra, ‘Aku akan melindungi kamu daripada putera-putera Pāṇḍu,’ maka kesombongan itu akan dipatahkan oleh anak panahku yang tajam.”
