अध्याय ६० — कर्णस्य पाञ्चाल-सोमक-निग्रहः

Karna’s Suppression of the Panchala–Somaka Forces

जिघांसन्तो नरव्याप्रा: समन्‍्तात्‌ तव वाहिनीम्‌ | अभ्यद्रवन्त संक्रुद्धा:समरे जितकाशिन:,भीमसेन, सात्यकि, शिखण्डी, जनमेजय, बलवान धृष्टद्युम्म और समस्त प्रभद्रकगण-- ये सभी पुरुषसिंह वीर समरांगणमें विजयसे उल्लसित होते हुए क्रोधमें भरकर आपकी सेनाको मार डालनेकी इच्छासे चारों ओरसे उसके ऊपर टूट पड़े

jighāṃsanto naravyāprāḥ samantāt tava vāhinīm | abhyadravanta saṃkruddhāḥ samare jitakāśinaḥ || bhīmasenaḥ sātyakiḥ śikhaṇḍī janamejayaḥ balavān dhṛṣṭadyumnaś ca sarve prabhadrakagaṇāś ca—ete sarve puruṣasiṃhā vīrāḥ samarāṅgaṇe vijayenollasitāḥ krodhabharitāḥ tava senāṃ jighāṃsayantaḥ samantāt tām abhyapatanta ||

Sañjaya berkata: Dengan hasrat membunuh dan tekad bertempur, mereka menyerbu dari segenap penjuru ke atas bala tentera tuanku. Menyala oleh amarah dan bersorak kerana bayangan kemenangan, Bhīmasena, Sātyaki, Śikhaṇḍin, Janamejaya, Dhṛṣṭadyumna yang gagah, serta seluruh Prabhadraka—wira laksana singa—menghempas pasukan tuanku dari segala arah, didorong oleh kehendak untuk membinasakan.
