अर्जुनस्य द्रोणिप्रतिघातः कर्णोपसर्पणं च

Arjuna Checks Droṇaputra; Karṇa Advances

कृतो जिधघांसु: शैनेयं खड्गचर्मधृगभ्ययात्‌ । इस प्रकार रणक्षेत्रमें युयुधानके द्वारा सारथि

sañjaya uvāca | kṛto jighāṃsuḥ śaineyaṃ khaḍgacarmadhṛg abhyayāt |

Sañjaya berkata: Setelah bertekad untuk membunuh Śaineya, dia mara ke arahnya dengan memegang pedang dan perisai. Maka di medan perang, Vṛṣasena—yang telah dilucutkan oleh Yuyudhāna daripada sais, kuda-kuda, dan panji keretanya—duduk lesu dan terpinga-pinga di atas keretanya selama dua ghaṭikā; kemudian bangkit semula, dengan niat membunuh Sātyaki, lalu maju dengan perisai dan pedang. Petikan ini menonjolkan bahawa walau selepas tamparan hebat dan rebah seketika, kehendak seorang pahlawan boleh mengeras menjadi keganasan yang diperbaharui—memperlihatkan momentum perang yang kelam, di mana tekad sering mengatasi pertimbangan.

The verse underscores the harsh psychology of war: even after being incapacitated and humiliated (losing charioteer, horses, and standard), a warrior may reconstitute his will into renewed aggression.
