Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how the outward splendour of war—roars, cries, and instruments—can generate awe and intimidation, reminding readers that martial power often advances through spectacle as much as through righteousness; ethical judgment must look beyond noise and display.

Sañjaya describes a warrior advancing in his chariot amid thunderous rumbling, lion-like shouts, and the din of war-instruments, so intense that it seems to shake the earth—signalling the escalation and ferocity of the battle scene.
