कर्णस्य दानप्रतिज्ञा–शल्योपदेश–वाक्ययुद्धम्

स्वान् स्वे जघ्नुर्महाराज परांश्वैव समागतान्
svān sve jaghnur mahārāja parāṁś caiva samāgatān
Sañjaya berkata: Wahai maharaja, dalam pertembungan itu para pahlawan menewaskan orang mereka sendiri di dalam barisan masing-masing, dan mereka juga membunuh para pejuang lawan yang telah berhimpun untuk bertempur—begitu keliru dan ganasnya pertempuran itu.
