The verse primarily functions as battlefield narration rather than direct moral instruction; it highlights how collective emotion—exultation, aggression, and momentum—manifests as overwhelming sound, reminding readers that war amplifies passions and can sweep individuals into a larger, uncontrollable force.
Sañjaya reports to the king that a sudden uproar arose on the battlefield: loud cries rang out and countless instruments began to sound, signaling an intensification of the combat atmosphere and the mobilization of forces.
