Tripura-destruction exemplum and counsel to Śalya
युयुत्सुश्न ततो राजन् शितधारेण पत्रिणा । उलूक॑ ताडयामास वच्ञेणेन्द्र इवाचलम्,राजन! तब युयुत्सुने तीखी धारवाले बाणसे महाबली उलूकको उसी प्रकार पीट दिया, जैसे इन्द्र पर्वतपर वज्रका प्रहार करते हैं
yuyutsus tu tato rājan śitadhāreṇa patriṇā | ulūkaṁ tāḍayāmāsa vajreṇendra ivācalam ||
Sañjaya berkata: “Kemudian, wahai Raja, Yuyutsu memanah Ulūka dengan anak panah berbulu yang bermata tajam, menghentamnya seperti Indra menyambar gunung yang teguh dengan vajra.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ideal of unwavering martial resolve in a dharmic struggle: when duty in battle is embraced with clarity, action becomes forceful and decisive—symbolized by the comparison to Indra’s thunderbolt.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Yuyutsu attacks and powerfully strikes Ulūka with a sharp, feathered arrow, likening the blow to Indra striking a mountain with the vajra.
