Śalya’s Objection to Sārathya and Duryodhana’s Conciliation (शल्यमन्यु-प्रशमनम् / Sārathyāṅgīkāra)
तारकाजालसंछन्नान् वरघण्टाविशोभितान्
tārakājālasaṃchannān varaghaṇṭāviśobhitān
Sañjaya berkata: “(Mereka menyaksikan) kereta-kereta itu diselubungi hiasan bagaikan jala bintang, dan bertambah gemilang oleh loceng-loceng yang unggul.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the outward splendor of war—ornamented equipment and martial pageantry—implicitly reminding that battlefield glory is often wrapped in dazzling appearances, while the ethical weight of violence remains in the background of the narrative.
Sañjaya is describing the visual scene of the combatants’ vehicles (especially chariots): they are covered with star-like decorative lattices and further beautified by fine bells, emphasizing the grandeur and intensity of the war setting.
