तान् समापतत: सर्वान् भारद्वाजो महारथ:
tān samāpatataḥ sarvān bhāradvājo mahārathaḥ
Sañjaya berkata: Tatkala mereka semua menyerbu serentak, maharathi Bhāradvāja menyambut gelombang serangan itu—teguh berdiri dalam ribut peperangan, menjelmakan dharma Kṣatriya: menghadapi bahaya tanpa berundur.

The verse highlights steadfastness in one’s appointed duty: when faced with collective attack, the exemplary warrior does not falter but meets the challenge with resolve—an ethical ideal of courage and responsibility in the battlefield context.
Sañjaya reports that as multiple opponents charge at once, Droṇa—referred to by his lineage-name Bhāradvāja and praised as a mahāratha—confronts them in the thick of combat.
