Chapter 161
घ्नतैनमिति जल्पन्त: क्षत्रिया: समुपाद्रवन् । महता शरवर्षेण च्छादयन्तो महारथा:
ghnatainam iti jalpantaḥ kṣatriyāḥ samupādravan | mahatā śaravarṣeṇa cchādayanto mahārathāḥ ||
Sañjaya berkata: Sambil melaungkan, “Bunuh dia!”, para pahlawan Kṣatriya menyerbu ke hadapan. Para maharatha itu lalu menimbusnya di bawah hujan anak panah yang dahsyat.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how war amplifies collective passion—shouts of “Kill him!” and the overwhelming ‘rain of arrows’ show how easily restraint and discernment can be submerged by group aggression, raising implicit questions about proportionality and dharma in combat.
Sañjaya reports that Kṣatriya fighters surge forward against a particular opponent and, as elite chariot-warriors, blanket him with an intense barrage of arrows, attempting to neutralize him through sheer concentrated missile-force.
