Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 114 — Karṇa–Bhīmasena Missile Exchange, Disarmament, and Arjuna’s Intervention
त्रियोजनगतस्यापि तसस््य यास्याम्यहं पदम् । आसैन्धववधाद् राजन सुदृढेनान्तरात्मना,“राजन! अर्जुनके तीन योजन दूर चले जानेपर भी मैं जयद्रथ-वधके पहले ही सुदृढ़ हृदयसे अर्जुनके स्थानपर पहुँच जाऊँगा
triyojanagatasyāpi tasya yāsyāmy ahaṁ padam | āsaindhavavadhād rājan sudr̥ḍhenāntarātmanā ||
Sañjaya berkata: “Wahai Raja, sekalipun dia telah pergi tiga yojana jauhnya, aku tetap akan sampai ke tempatnya—sebelum Saindhava dibunuh—dengan keteguhan azam batinku.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights steadfast inner resolve (sudr̥ḍha antarātman) as a driving force that can overcome distance and urgency in the midst of crisis—an ethical emphasis on determination in pursuing one’s pledged duty.
Sanjaya, reporting to King Dhritarashtra, declares that even if Arjuna has moved far away, he will reach Arjuna’s position before Jayadratha (Saindhava) is slain—underscoring the urgency surrounding the vow and the impending act of vengeance in the battle.
