प्राग्ज्योतिषो महेष्वासो हैडिम्बं राक्षसोत्तमम्‌

Transliteration

prāgjyotiṣo maheṣvāso haiḍimbaṁ rākṣasottamam

Translation

Sañjaya berkata: “Pemanah agung dari Prāgjyotiṣa (Bhagadatta) berhadapan dengan Haiḍimba, yang terunggul antara para rākṣasa.” Baris ini menonjolkan bahawa di tengah tekanan moral perang, pahlawan termasyhur dan juara bukan manusia yang menggerunkan turut ditarik ke medan yang sama, di mana keperkasaan dan kesetiaan lebih menentukan tindakan daripada kelahiran atau jenis makhluk.
