Adhyāya 78 — Bhīṣma’s Advance, Duryodhana’s Rally, and Concurrent Duels (भीष्मस्याभ्युद्यमः, दुर्योधनस्योत्साहवचनम्, विविधयुद्धवर्णनम्)
धृष्टकेतुर्नरव्याप्रश्नेकितानश्व वीर्यवान् । दक्षिणं पक्षमाश्रित्य स्थितौ व्यूहस्य रक्षणे
Dhṛṣṭaketūr naravyāprāśn-ekitānaś ca vīryavān | dakṣiṇaṃ pakṣam āśritya sthitau vyūhasya rakṣaṇe ||
Sañjaya berkata: “Dhṛṣṭaketu, insan terunggul, dan Cekitāna yang gagah, mengambil tempat di sayap kanan dan tetap berkawal melindungi formasi perang.”
संजय उवाच
Even in war, dharma is expressed through disciplined responsibility: capable warriors are assigned to protect the formation, showing that valor includes guarding others and maintaining order, not only attacking.
Sañjaya describes troop placement within a battle-array: Dhṛṣṭaketu and Cekitāna stand on the right flank, tasked with defending the vyūha so it remains intact during combat.
