Educational Q&A

Even amid war, senior leaders may attempt to restrain rash action; ethical conduct in conflict includes heeding wise counsel and exercising self-control rather than being driven solely by anger or impulse.

Sañjaya reports that a certain warrior (implied from the surrounding context) is being held back or checked by the elders Bhīṣma and Droṇa, indicating an attempt by commanders to control the course of action on the battlefield.
