Bhīmasena’s Kalinga Engagement and the Approach of Bhīṣma (भीमसेन-कालिङ्ग-संग्रामः)

विकोशैर्विमलै: खड्गैरभिजग्मु: परान्‌ रणे | जो चमकीली तलवारें पहले चितकबरे अथवा साधारण व्याप्र-चर्मकी बनी हुई म्यानोंमें बंद रहती थीं

sañjaya uvāca | vikośair vimalaiḥ khaḍgair abhijagmuḥ parān raṇe |

Sañjaya berkata: Dengan pedang yang terang berkilau, terhunus dan bersih tanpa cela, para pahlawan menekan musuh di medan laga, mendekat untuk menumpaskan mereka. Pedang-pedang yang dahulu tersarung dalam sarung daripada kulit harimau berbintik atau kulit biasa kini dicabut; dan dengannya para lelaki perkasa membunuh lawan di gelanggang perang. Adegan ini menegaskan tekad getir pertempuran—sebaik senjata terhunus, kemahiran dan keberanian berubah menjadi tindakan maut, ketika kṣātra-dharma (dharma kesatria) memaksa mereka berhadapan musuh secara langsung.
