Daivī–Āsurī Sampad-Vibhāga (दैवी–आसुरी संपद्विभागः) | Division of Constructive and Destructive Dispositions

सम्बन्ध-- छठे श्लोकसे आठवेंतक अनन्यध्यानका फलसहित वर्णन करके नवेंसे ग्यारहवें *"लोकतक एक प्रकारके साधनमें असमर्थ होनेपर दूसरा साधन बतलाते हुए अन्तमें 'सर्वकर्मफलत्याग” रूप साधनका वर्णन किया गया। इससे यह शंका हो सकती है कि 'कर्मफलत्याग” रूप साधन पूर्वोक्त अन्य साधनोंकी अपेक्षा निग्न श्रेणीका होगा; अत: ऐसी शंकाको हटानेके लिये कर्मफलके त्यागका महत्व अगले श्लोकमें बतलाया जाता है श्रेयो हि ज्ञानमभ्यासाज्ज्ञानाद्‌ ध्यानं विशिष्यते । ध्यानात्‌ कर्मफलत्यागस्त्यागाच्छान्तिरनन्तरम्‌,मर्मको न जानकर किये हुए अभ्याससे ज्ञान श्रेष्ठ है,” ज्ञानसे मुझ परमेश्वरके स्वरूपका ध्यान श्रेष्ठ है और ध्यानसे भी सब कर्मोंके फलका त्याग श्रेष्ठ है;+ क्योंकि त्यागसे तत्काल ही परम शान्ति होती हैः

śreyo hi jñānam abhyāsāj jñānād dhyānaṁ viśiṣyate | dhyānāt karma-phala-tyāgas tyāgāc chāntir anantaram ||

Pengetahuan lebih mulia daripada latihan yang diulang-ulang tanpa memahami intinya. Lebih mulia daripada pengetahuan ialah meditasi yang teguh atas hakikat sejati Tuhan. Dan lebih mulia daripada meditasi ialah meninggalkan buah segala perbuatan; kerana daripada pelepasan itu, kedamaian datang serta-merta.

A graded hierarchy of spiritual means is presented: understanding (jñāna) is superior to mechanical practice (abhyāsa); meditation (dhyāna) is superior to mere conceptual knowledge; and best of all is renouncing attachment to the results of action (karma-phala-tyāga), because it yields immediate peace (śānti).
