Viśvarūpa-darśana (The Vision of the Universal Form) —

ahaṁ hi sarva-yajñānāṁ bhoktā ca prabhur eva ca | na tu mām abhijānanti tattvenātaś cyavanti te ||

Wahai Arjuna!

Educational Q&A

All sacrificial worship ultimately reaches the Supreme Lord, who alone is the real recipient and ruler of every yajña. But if worship is performed without true knowledge of the Supreme’s essential nature (tattva), it does not culminate in liberation; instead, the worshipper remains bound to karmic results and returns to rebirth.

In the battlefield dialogue, the Lord clarifies to Arjuna the status of ritual and devotion: even when people worship various deities with faith, the ultimate ground of worship is the Supreme. The problem is not faith itself but misapprehension—failing to recognize the Supreme as the final reality—leading to spiritual ‘falling’ into continued saṁsāra.
