Chapter 19: Prativyūha of the Pāṇḍavas — Vajra (Acala) Formation and Dawn Omens
संध्यां तिष्ठत्सु सैन्येषु सूर्यस्पोदयन प्रति । प्रावात् सपृषतो वायुर्निरभ्रे स््तनयित्नुमान्
saṃdhyāṃ tiṣṭhatsu sainyeṣu sūryasyodayanaṃ prati | prāvāt sapṛṣato vāyur nirabhre stanayitnumān ||
Sanjaya berkata: Ketika bala tentera berdiri menunaikan upacara senja, menghadap ke arah matahari yang sedang terbit, bertiuplah angin membawa titisan air halus; meskipun langit tidak berawan, ia bergemuruh seperti guruh—suatu alamat yang menggelisahkan menjelang pertempuran.
संजय उवाच
Even amid impending violence, the warriors observe Sandhyā worship, showing the continued presence of ritual duty; yet nature’s abnormal signs suggest that moral disorder and massive destruction are near, reminding readers that adharma in conflict invites ominous consequences.
At sunrise time, while the assembled armies are performing their Sandhyā rites facing the rising sun, an unusual wind blows with water droplets and thunder-like rumbling despite a cloudless sky—presented as a portent on the battlefield.
