भीष्मसेनासंनिवेशः — Bhīṣma’s Mobilization, Omens, and the Kaurava Array
जयो<स्तु पाण्डुपुत्राणामित्यूचतुररिंदमौ । युयुधाते तवार्थाय यथा स समय: कृत:
jayo 'stu pāṇḍuputrāṇām ity ūcatur ariṃdamau | yuyudhāte tavārthāya yathā sa samayaḥ kṛtaḥ ||
Sañjaya berkata: “Dua penunduk musuh itu akan berkata, ‘Semoga kemenangan milik putera-putera Pāṇḍu!’ Namun, menurut ikrar yang telah mereka buat, mereka tetap bertempur menentang Pāṇḍava demi kepentingan tuanku.” Ayat ini menampakkan ketegangan moral: para tua-tua yang di batin mengakui pihak dharma, tetapi di lahir terikat oleh sumpah dan kesetiaan.
संजय उवाच
Even when one recognizes the righteous side, one may still be bound by prior commitments (samaya) and allegiance; the verse foregrounds the ethical strain between inner conviction and outward duty, urging reflection on the weight and consequences of vows.
Sañjaya reports that two great warriors (understood in context as Bhīṣma and Droṇa) verbally bless the Pāṇḍavas’ victory, yet they continue to fight against them on behalf of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, because they had pledged to support his side.
