यदेक: समरे पार्थान् सार्जुनानू समयोधयत् । न चैनं पाण्डवा युद्धे वारयामासुरुल्बणम्
sañjaya uvāca |
yad ekaḥ samare pārthān sārjunānū samayodhayat |
na cainaṃ pāṇḍavā yuddhe vārayāmāsur ulbaṇam ||
Sañjaya berkata: “Bagaimana mungkin, di tengah kancah pertempuran, dia seorang diri bertempur melawan putera-putera Pṛthā bersama Arjuna, namun para Pāṇḍava tidak mampu menahan pahlawan yang garang itu dalam pertempuran.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the battlefield measure of kṣatriya prowess and the difficulty of restraining a fierce opponent; ethically, it underscores how war tests resolve, discipline, and strategic restraint rather than mere numbers.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that a single warrior is engaging the Pāṇḍavas along with Arjuna, and despite their efforts they are unable to stop him in the midst of combat.
