Adhyāya 51: Kṛṣṇa’s Leave-Taking and Departure for Dvārakā (द्वारकागमनानुमति)
मया तु भरतश्रेष्ठ चिरदृष्ट: पिता प्रभु: । तमहं द्रष्टमेच्छामि सम्मते तव फाल्गुन
mayā tu bharataśreṣṭha ciradṛṣṭaḥ pitā prabhuḥ | tam ahaṃ draṣṭum icchāmi sammate tava phālguna ||
Vāyu berkata: “Wahai yang terbaik antara kaum Bharata, ayahku yang mulia sudah lama tidak kulihat. Aku ingin menemuinya. Jika engkau berkenan, wahai Phālguna (Arjuna), aku akan pergi ke Dvārakā untuk memperoleh darśana baginda.”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse highlights reverence toward one’s father/elder and the ethical propriety of seeking a trusted person’s consent before undertaking an important journey—desire is guided by respect, consultation, and right intention.
Vāyudeva addresses Arjuna respectfully, saying he has not seen his father for a long time and wishes to meet him; he asks whether Arjuna agrees to his going to Dvārakā for that purpose.
