धृतराष्ट्राश्रमगमनम् — The Pandavas’ Procession to Dhritarashtra’s Hermitage
पूर्वमेवैष हृदये व्यवसायो5भवन्मम । यदास्मि चोदितो राज्ञा भवत्या पृथयैव च,जब राजा धृतराष्ट्रने, तुमने और कुन्तीने भी मुझे इसके लिये प्रेरित किया था, उससे पहले ही मेरे हृदयमें यह (मृत व्यक्तियोंके दर्शन करानेका) निश्चय हो गया था
pūrvam evaiṣa hṛdaye vyavasāyo ’bhavan mama | yadāsmi codito rājñā bhavatyā pṛthayaiva ca ||
Vyāsa berkata: “Bahkan sebelum aku didorong oleh raja—dan olehmu juga, wahai Pṛthā (Kuntī)—tekad ini telah pun timbul dalam hatiku.”
व्यास उवाच
A compassionate act meant to relieve grief should be grounded in inner clarity and firm resolve, not merely in external pressure; the sage indicates that his intention was already ethically settled within.
In the Āśramavāsika context of post-war mourning, Vyāsa tells Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Kuntī that the plan he is about to carry out (to console them through extraordinary means) was already decided in his heart even before they requested it.
