स मया मूढया पुत्रो ज्ञायमानोडप्युपेक्षित: । तन्मां दहति विप्रर्षे यथा सुविदितं तव,ब्रह्म! मुझ मूढ़ नारीने अपने पुत्रको पहचान लिया तो भी उसकी उपेक्षा कर दी। यह भूल मुझे शोकाग्निसे दग्ध करती रहती है। आपको तो यह बात अच्छी तरह ज्ञात ही है

sā mayā mūḍhayā putro jñāyamāno ’py upekṣitaḥ | tan māṁ dahati viprarṣe yathā suviditaṁ tava brahman ||

Anak itu—walaupun aku telah mengenalinya—tetap aku abaikan dalam kebodohan dan khayalku. Kesalahan itu membakar diriku seperti api dukacita, wahai yang terbaik antara para Brahmana; sesungguhnya, wahai Brahman, hal ini telah engkau ketahui dengan jelas.
