धृतराष्ट्रदर्शनाय पाण्डवानां प्रयाणम् | The Pāṇḍavas Prepare to Visit Dhṛtarāṣṭra

स मामुवाच तिग्मांशुर्वथा55द्वानं न मे क्षमम्‌ । थक्ष्यामि त्वां च विप्रं च येन दत्तो वरस्तव,तब उन प्रचण्डरश्मि सूर्यने मुझसे कहा--“मेरा आवाहन व्यर्थ नहीं हो सकता। तुम कोई-न-कोई वर अवश्य माँग लो अन्यथा मैं तुमको और जिसने तुम्हें वर दिया है, उस ब्राह्मणगको भी भस्म कर डालूँगा'

sa mām uvāca tigmāṁśur yathāhvānaṁ na me kṣamam | bhasmīkariṣyāmi tvāṁ ca vipraṁ ca yena datto varas tava ||

Vaiśampāyana berkata: Lalu Surya yang bersinar garang berkata kepadaku, “Seruanku tidak mungkin menjadi sia-sia. Mintalah suatu anugerah tanpa gagal; jika tidak, akan kuhancurkan menjadi abu engkau dan juga brahmana yang telah mengurniakan anugerah ini kepadamu.”
