Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Departure for Forest Life
kadā drakṣyāmi tāṁ devīṁ yadi jīvati sā pṛthā | jīvantyā hādya me prītir bhaviṣyati janādhipa ||
The verse highlights reverence toward elders and the ethical impulse to seek reconciliation and blessing after catastrophe: Draupadī’s joy depends on the continued life of Pṛthā (Kuntī), indicating respect, gratitude, and the healing role of familial bonds.
After honoring the king she is addressing, Draupadī expresses her longing to see Pṛthā (Kuntī). She asks when she will be able to meet her, adding that if Kuntī is alive, Draupadī’s heart will find joy that very day.
