Vaiśampāyana said: Seeing Dhṛtarāṣṭra and all the others living with humility and established in disciplined conduct, Yudhiṣṭhira—ever gentle in heart—would repeatedly tell his brothers and ministers: “King Dhṛtarāṣṭra is worthy of honor for me and for you all. Whoever remains obedient to his command is my well-wisher; but whoever acts in opposition is my enemy, and such a man must be restrained and will incur my punishment.”

Educational Q&A

Legitimate authority and social harmony rest on disciplined conduct (niyama) and respectful obedience to those worthy of honor; opposition to rightful command is treated as hostility and invites corrective restraint (daṇḍa).

In the Āśramavāsika context, Yudhiṣṭhira instructs his brothers and ministers to honor Dhṛtarāṣṭra and to treat compliance with Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s directives as friendship, while viewing contrary behavior as enmity deserving restraint.
