Puṣkara-Śapatha Itihāsa (Agastya–Indra Dispute at the Tīrthas) | पुष्कर-शपथ-आख्यानम्

भीष्म उवाच साधोर्य: प्रतिगृह्लीयात्‌ तथैवासाधुतो द्विज: । गुणवत्यल्पदोष: स्यान्निर्गुणे तु निमज्जति,भीष्मजीने कहा--राजन! जो ब्राह्मण साधु अर्थात्‌ उत्तम गुण-आचरणवाले पुरुषसे तथा असाधु अर्थात्‌ दुर्गुण और दुराचारवाले पुरुषसे दान ग्रहण करता है, उनमें सदगुणी- सदाचारवाले पुरुषसे दान लेना अल्प दोष है। किंतु दुर्गुण और दुराचारवालेसे दान लेनेवाला पापमें डूब जाता है

bhīṣma uvāca sādhoryaḥ pratigṛhṇīyāt tathaivāsādhuto dvijaḥ | guṇavaty alpadoṣaḥ syān nirguṇe tu nimajjati ||

Bhīṣma berkata: “Wahai raja, seorang brahmin yang menerima pemberian—sama ada daripada orang berbudi atau orang jahat—hanya menanggung kesalahan kecil apabila menerima daripada orang yang berbudi. Tetapi apabila dia menerima daripada orang yang tiada sifat baik, dia tenggelam dalam dosa.”
