उपाध्यायमध: कृत्वा ऋचो<ध्येतु अजूंषि च । जुहोतु च स कक्षाग्नौ बिसस्तैन्यं करोति यः:,जो मृणालकी चोरी करता हो, उसे उपाध्याय (अध्यापक या गुरु) को नीचे बैठाकर उनसे ऋग्वेद और यजुर्वेदका अध्ययन करने और घास-फ़ूसकी आगमें आहुति डालनेका पाप लगे

upādhyāyam adhaḥ kṛtvā ṛco 'dhyetuṃ yajūṃṣi ca | juhotu ca sa kakṣāgnau bisastainyaṃ karoti yaḥ ||

Bharadvāja berkata: “Sesiapa yang mencuri bisa (serat tangkai teratai) menanggung dosa yang sama seperti orang yang menyuruh gurunya (upādhyāya) duduk di tempat yang lebih rendah, lalu mempelajari Ṛgveda dan Yajurveda dengan sikap tidak hormat, serta mempersembahkan korban suci ke dalam api rumput yang hina. Ajarannya ialah: pencurian yang tampak kecil sebenarnya pelanggaran dharma yang berat; dan ilmu suci serta ritual, apabila dilakukan dengan penghinaan terhadap guru dan tata cara yang benar, berubah menjadi perbuatan salah, bukan pahala.”
