Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the ethical and political weight of progeny: a child born of a divinely sanctioned union is portrayed as possessing extraordinary potency, implying that lineage and rightful generation can shape the fate of the world and must therefore be approached with responsibility and dharmic intent.

Bhīṣma is addressing a divine, powerful figure and predicting that the offspring arising from the union of “you two” will be immensely strong—so formidable that it will dominate the three worlds, leaving nothing unconquered or unmatched.
