Moral and spiritual excellence can grant extraordinary clarity of perception: even Indra’s sight is limited, while those established in dharma—here highlighted through the ideal of unwavering marital fidelity—may perceive higher or subtler realms.
Bhīṣma addresses Indra (Śakra), asserting that there are many realms beyond Indra’s immediate vision. Bhīṣma claims he can see them, and adds that women devoted to a single husband (pativratās) can also perceive such realms, underscoring the potency of dharma.
